Within their learning throughout the programme, students acquire and apply a set of transdisciplinary skills. These skills are valuable, not only in the units of inquiry, but also for any teaching and learning that goes on within the classroom, and in life outside the school.
These skills are listed under five group headings:
- Thinking: acquisition of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, dialectical thought and metacognition.
- Social: accepting responsibility, respecting others, cooperating, resolving conflict, group-decision making and adopting a variety of group roles
- Communication: listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, presenting and non-verbal communication
- Research: formulating questions, observing, planning, collecting data, recording data, organizing data, interpreting data, presenting research findings
- Self-management: Gross motor skills, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, organization, time-management, safety, healthy lifestyle, codes of behaviour and informed choices
