By exposing children to a range of media and materials the Art program strives to enrich children’s natural enjoyment in using art as a means of self expression. Students at ISB are provided with guidance to foster their creativity and freedom of expression in a caring environment. At the same time they acquire knowledge of techniques, processes and skills which are developmentally appropriate.

Children are expected to make personal responses to the work of artists from different periods and of varying styles. They are encouraged to appreciate their own art and that of others through positive criticism. The PYP believes that the creative process is the driving force in learning through inquiry and that learning exposure to and experience with art opens the doors to key questions about life and learning. We believe that learning through the arts has a positive influence on a child’s self-esteem and development.
